Elira Pendora is a dragon (a Solar Sky Dragon) of immense power. She plays important roles in Arcs 2 and 12 in Nijime in Story Reality and is one of the first Nijisanji-EN livers to debut in Stream Reality.

Etymology[]

It is unknown where her first name came from. Pendora refers to her lineage as part of the Pendora family, a highly influential and powerful family of Solar Sky Dragons.

Appearance and Personality[]

"Love at first light"

Elira appears as a humanoid dragon due to her close association with God, who is himself a humanoid, as opposed to less powerful or ancient dragons, who look more or less like the dragons as you'd expect. She has blue hair with wing extensions (which do not actually help her fly) on both sides of her head. She has wings on her back which appear diminutive but which are heavily lined with magical powers that enable Elira to travel quickly through even space. Her bangs cover her left eye most times leading many to think she only has one eye. However, she does it to hide the fact that she has a diamond shaped pupil, even in her human form, and so she hides it to avoid scaring or causing suspicion among humans. Elira's human form resembles her dragon form somewhat, although she of course lacks wings, has natural color hair, and lacks wing structures in her hair.

Elira is characterized by her calm, kind, and composed manner, often acting as the "one straight man" in whatever group she finds herself in. While mostly composed, she is often caught off guard (due to her scatterbrain memories) in which she responds with strong surprise. Elira is kind, but like her fellow high powered celestial beings, she finds it difficult to fully invest herself in the lives of mortal beings. Elira is not without a sense of humor and even can be mischievous when appropriate.

Elira is also characterized by an immensely strong sense of duty towards her family and the good of the solar system. For instance, she felt such a strong pull towards joining her mother's cause of understanding humans and wishing to find a peaceful way to integrate with them that she was willing to be reborn as a human and live a human life. Furthermore, she was willing to betray her own half-sister Selen (so true) in order to ensure that a more peaceful way to restore the dragon race could be found. Elira can also be quite the romantic and can be an idealist, which informs many of her decisions like the ones discussed.

History[]

"A sky dragon who came from the heavens closest to the sun. She has the kindness and receptiveness that makes the light of a sunny day fall equally on all"

Story Reality[]

Pre-Series[]

Elira was born in Heaven (the heavens close to the Sun) to Madra and Draken Pendora. Elira is one of the oldest living beings in the cosmos, being old enough to have met God when he was still active.

She may have been born prior to one billion years before the present day. However, due to living so long, her memory has been running out and she only usually remembers bits and pieces of her life up until about five million years ago, which means even she does not really know how old she is. As such, she could have been born anytime between 5-1000 million years. The only known living beings in the solar system known to be older than Elira are her mom (Madra), God, and some of his archangels.

As a member of the dragon elite due to her heritage, Elira lived a relatively comfortable and high class life for most of it. Still, she did involve herself in many causes, and even tried to advocate for peace between the angels she lived with and the demons in the angel-demon war. She was encouraged to do so by her mother Madra.

Elira also became involved in Dragon Training, an ancient dragon tradition of mentorship and apprenticeship between an elder dragon and a student dragon. Through millions of years of practice, Elira became known as one of the most prolific Dragon Tamers in Heaven.

When the dragons were kicked off of Earth in the Dragon Exile 2 million years ago, Madra immediately became involved in this issue, but ultimately was forced to resign from the issue due to pressure from God. However, she encouraged her daughter Elira to try and find a way to restore the era of dragons in a peaceful way. It was during this time that Elira was informed about the Heart's Melody with Madra suggesting it could be the key to ending the exile peacefully.

Part 1[]

Elira first appears in Part 1 when the Ethyrian War begins as one of the agents of the light in the group Lazulight representing the element of Sky. While not allowed on Earth, Elira can communicate with her kin in Atlantis, including Finana Ryugu, which enables her to interact with events on Earth. She even befriended the four friends, Reimu, Nina, Millie, and Enna. Elira leads the battle in the skies, where she must fight with her own step-sister Selen Tatsuki. Her efforts help to draw power from the battle so that the Ethyrium could be restabilized successfully.

The two factions Lazulight and OBSYDIA formed as the formerly balanced Ethyrium has started to split into its dark and light components like oil mixed with water, and only the Heart’s Melody can restore the balance. The Heart’s Melody is a prophesized power the dragons and mermaids have been searching for, for millennia, and it allows the user to directly channel the energies of the Universal Celestial itself. This plays a role in Elira's interactions with the four friends as they are the embodiments of the Heart's Melody, giving her almost a reverence of them.

Elira continues to check in from time to time during Arc 3 and Arc 4 with the friends via Atlantis. In Arc 4, she learns that they are kin due to their close connection with the Ethyrium, which is the remains of her uncle Ryugu. Elira mourns their death following their sacrifice but has confidence they did the right thing, and that she will meet them again. She then renews both her resolve to end the dragon exile as well as starting her search for the Heart's melody anew.

Between Parts and Human Life[]

After recovering from the Ethyrian War, Elira angers over her inability to directly provide assistance on Earth and resolves to find a way to get around the barrier blocking Earth from dragons. She also sought a way to peacefully mediate human-dragon integration to perhaps end the exile.

Almost a thousand years later, Atlantis has discovered a new set of spells after experimenting with demon magic. One of these spells could assist in Elira's mission: the rebirth spell. In this spell, Elira would be reborn as a human on Earth, and as long as she stayed within her human form, she could stay on Earth. She would be able to transform back and forth between her human and dragon forms even after being reborn, but in her dragon form she would be expelled back into space.

While Elira would lose a lot by agreeing to have the spell performed on her, she realized it would help solve both problems. She would be on Earth and would retain much of her powers to help out on Earth. In addition, she would be the first dragon raised by humans, raised amongst humans, and raised as a human, and would be able to learn a lot about human-dragon interaction and integration in the experience.

During the 1990s, Elira Pendora officially took on a human form, and was raised by a human family comprised of Elimama, Elipapa, and eventually this family was joined by her younger human brother Elibro. She would later regain her memories of her dragon life after another Atlantean spell reversed the effects of Soul Amnesia caused by the rebirth spell when she was around 10.

Elira began to live a double life: she would spend her days on Earth with her human family, but she would transform into a dragon at night, where she would return to Heaven and perform her duties there (most especially her dragon racer duties). Upon her return to Heaven, she returned to dragon taming and received her newest student, Pikl. As dragon training can last for hundreds of years due to the immense lifespan of dragons, Pikl will be her student for a long time.

During her time on Earth, she met up with her reborn half-sister Selen (who had also been living a similar double life to Elira and whose life path was so similar but with such opposing conclusions) and her friends. They all became very close through this experience. In her human life, Elira lives in Canada, although she can speak Japanese (which she supposedly learned in part from watching anime) and has even lived in Japan for about a year.

Elira also sought after her reborn friends from the Ethyrian War and was able to find Millie and Enna, meeting them shortly before they died in 2014, and meeting back up with them when they both returned to Earth after their respective afterlife adventures. Millie even supposedly moved into Elira's basement in a box shortly after returning from hell. However, she did not inform them that she had known them in past lives until the events of the Arc 12 (or after they joined Nijisanji in Stream Reality).

Part 3[]

By 2022, Elira heard of a dragon movement on the moon to restore the dragon race and eagerly joined, but was dismayed when she learned they intended not to peacefully coexist with humans but destroy them by restoring the dragon God. Elira, seeking to correct this injustice, rose through the ranks until she became second in command to the army’s leader, revealed much to her surprise to be her own half-sister Selen.

In Arc 11, during the Zottian Invasion of Earth, Elira wanted to assist, but she was pulled out of Earth by Madra during the duration of the invasion to prevent the aliens from finding about dragons and their power, which they could exploit.

At the start of Arc 12 and the Dragon-Human Reveal, Selen coerced Elira to join her in the invasion of Earth following the demon race being defeated or else she would be outed to the army, and she was forced to go along. In this process, she was torn between her duty to help the dragons and to save humanity. She secretly went behind the backs of her dragon allies and worked with the Iluna Six, gaining their trust and revealing herself to be an apologetic villain, or maybe not even a villain at all.

With help from the Iluna Six, she is able to convince the dragon army to be swayed to her side, and leads them to defeat Selen, allowing humanity to view the dragons as allies rather than enemies to be scared of. With Selen defeated, Elira became the leader of the dragon army, which she converted from an army to an integration society which aids both dragons and humans in getting along with each other and learning to live together in harmony. With this, the Dragon Exile comes to an end and she can remain on Earth even in her dragon form.

In Arc 13, she aids the Iluna Six in their battle against The Rose. However, they are defeated, and now even the Earth itself is hostile to all of them. Elira takes the Iluna Six into space and to the dragon moon base to work out the next stage of their plan. In the process of escape, she captures Pomu.

Later, Elira, along with Selen, Petra, Pomu, and Finana inform the group of their millennia long search for the Heart’s Melody, a force granted by the universe itself to counter the darkness, but which has disappeared a millennia ago. Their discussion leads to the insight that Kyo main be its main embodiment. Elira then helps the Iluna Six in their rematch and victory against The Rose, and assists in the final mission to destroy the Darkness in the Battle of Aster's Star.

Stream Reality[]

Everything up to what happens at the start of Part 3 above also occurs in Stream Reality. However, the Dragon Restoration Movement storyline does not end up occurring due to Nijisanji's influence on Selen.

At the beginning of 2021, Elira, who was living her human life at the time, was trapped by Nijisanji in a time bubble and a RWP was spliced into her consciousness, creating the liver known as Elira. Gaining the desire to stream from this new introduction to her consciousness, Elira rationalized by deciding to spend her time in her human life livestreaming for Nijisanji, which would give her plenty of time to still moonlight as a dragon tamer at night. She ended up debuting on May 2021 in the wave Lazulight, comprised of her former ally commanders from the Ethyrian War. Along with her fellow genmates, Elira inherited a piece of the Virtual Moon, which she named Eluna.

The name Lazulight was conceived by Elira due to her knowledge of the Ethyrian War. Pre-debut, she proposed it to her genmates (who did not remember this due to being reincarnations of souls from that conflict) and they accepted. The name Lazulight itself comes from the mineral Lazurite and the word "light", as the mineral's color and the symbolism of light reflects the nature of this wave.

In the stream reality, Elira's fan name is FamElira, with their Virtual World representation being that of the "weewas". Her membership is known as the Membersheesh after the fact that one of Elira's catchphrases is "Sheesh!".

Powers and Abilities[]

As an ancient Solar Sky Dragon, Elira has close ties with God himself. Even though Elira only possesses a miniscule fraction of God's total power/Immaterial Essence, the very fact of the sun's size means that even this minute percentage is tremendous, putting her on the level of some planetary celestials. Even still, Elira is weaker than the Earth Celestial, as she was unable to defeat The Rose on her own without help from the Iluna Six, and was warded off from helping during the Zottian Invasion.

Abilities[]

Dragon physical characteristics: When in her draconic form, Elira has the physical characteristics of a dragon. This includes the fact she is inorganic and is a sentient collection of raw stellar material with a high density of Immaterial Essence. She can survive in the vacuum of space, does not need to eat, and is much stronger and durable than an organic lifeform. She can also speak telepathically with other dragons in Dragontongue.

Shapeshifting: As a being associated with Heaven and God, Elira has the ability to easily shapeshift and can use this to switch between her human and dragon forms.

Healing: Like other angelic beings, Elira is capable of healing and can even repair damage to massive amounts of land or objects.

Solar Energy: Elira can control solar energies, having a limited ability to induce solar phenomenon on smaller scales than that of the sun, including miniature solar flares, solar promontories, and CMEs.

Light Energy: Elira is capable of controlling light energy, which she can use offensively in the form of powerful light lances and defensively in the form of the dragonshield, an aura of pure light energy that helps block even the most powerful attack while also allowing Elira the ability to survive in open space when she is in her vulnerable human form.

Flight: As a dragon, Elira possesses wings which contain immense power. These wings even work in space by channeling solar particles in the Solar Wind. Due to the fact that the solar wind particles are so sparse compared with the density of Earth's atmosphere, this means Elira's wings must be immensely powerful to create force by pushing off against them. Elira is capable of traveling to the sun in 30 minutes, which forms part of her daily commute, meaning she is capable of traveling at a quarter of lightspeed.

Weaknesses[]

Darkness and corruption: While Elira in her dragon form does not have many weaknesses, she was able to be affected by the Ethyrium during the Ethyrian War. She is also unable to defeat The Rose when it has taken control over the Earth Celestial due to the corrupting nature of the Darkness which nullifies her light attacks.

Human form: In her human form, she has human weaknesses and can be harmed accordingly, and has experienced both broken bones and jellyfish stings as a result. Any human injuries she sustains goes away when transforming into a dragon, but when she transforms back, the injuries return until healed naturally.

Forgetfulness: Regardless of her form, Elira has experienced so much time and so many memories that her mind has become scatterbrained, leading to her forgetting things easily.

Trivia[]

Elira is known to say "Sheesh" very often. She is also known to shout "WHAT!?" when surprised.

Her human native language is English and she can speak a little bit of Japanese. She also speaks Dragontongue, which she can do both verbally and telepathically.

Her favorite color is Purple.

Elira is often misnamed "Elira Pendragon" due to her last name being similar to that of King Arthur's, and because Arthur's last name has the word "dragon" in it. Elira is used to it and will simply correct it by saying "Arthur was a myth, I'm not".

Due to her immense age, Elira has memory problems. She describes it as like when a hard drive runs out of space, as all hard drives would do if you took a million year video and tried to save it on one.

In her human form, Elira enjoys human food, sleeping, reading books, and cartoons. She enjoys watching anime (especially Shonen Jump anime) and playing video games of many kinds. Elira may be a big fan of overalls which is why her avatar is wearing overalls.

Elira dislikes kanji, which she lists as her main dislike. However, she also strongly dislikes injustice and the inability to assist those in need.

Elira is adverse to many things, including blood. She is also adverse to jellyfish after her human form was stung by one when it was still a child. She is also adverse to sports given she has broken bones while bowling, skiing, and playing baseball in her human form.

In her human form, Elira learned to play the piano because a lot of people wanted her to learn to play it, but after over a decade of playing she grew dissatisfied with it and stopped. She also played the oboe for a long time as well.

Elira was one of the singers of Diamond City Lights as part of her debut in Stream Reality. A running joke is that she thinks the song is very twerkable.

One theory of Elira's left eye is that it contains a hypnotizing gaze that converts people into Nijisanji livers and that she is the force behind the supposed Nijisanjification. Evidence for this is that she supposedly used this to get all 5 members of Noctyx to join Nijisanji. In actuality, this event was all part of a hazing ritual involving Noctyx shortly after they already joined Nijisanji.
